This is a very frequently asked question from new pet parents! We recommend you get your pets started around 10-12 weeks. We do not offer full first time haircuts for a pets first professional groom. Home grooming such as cutting/trimming, does not always help your pets experience. Your pet’s first time can be very scary, we like to ease them into this by doing minimal services for their first visit. This will encourage positive grooming going forward and get them used to new feelings and sounds.
If your pet is under 16 weeks, we require the first two rounds of puppy shots. At 16 weeks, we require proof of the rabies vaccine. This has to be paperwork from the vet, one with your pets current name (if you adopted and changed the name), & the date the shot expires. We cannot accept rabies tags or home/breeder given shots.
Sedatives provided by the vet can be given, as well as calming aids and treat. If sedatives are given a special release will need to be signed.
At home brushing is always a must! Getting your pet used to being brushed when they are young can help grooming be a fun and positive experience. Please research your breed of dog to see what brushes are best. If you are unsure, please ask us! Using an electric toothbrush on your puppies feet, face and body can help get them used to the feeling of our clippers. PLEASE do NOT bathe your pet without brushing out any and all mattes/ tangles. Bathing when your pet has tangles can cause them to tighten and cause damage to your pets skin/ coat.
